PIONEERS CLOSE OUT SEASON AT REGION TOURNEY
Competing in its 11th and final meet of the season, the Prairie State
College men’s golf team participated in the 54-hole Region IV
Championship Thursday thru Saturday at Prairie View Golf Course in
Byron.
The Pioneers were led by freshman Marcel Franklin (Park Forest), who
totaled a 256 (84, 89, 83). He placed ahead of both freshman Tim
Valente (Hammond, Ind.) (291 - 99, 94, 98) and sophomore Lemar Brown
(Chicago) (297 - 100, 98, 99).
With just three golfers competing, PSC did not have a team score.
Franklin was the lone Pioneer who played in all 11 meets, encompassing
14 rounds, this fall.

PRAIRIE STATE SHOOTS SEASON BEST AT HOME MEET
Three days after shooting a season-best 348, the Prairie State College
men’s golf team surpassed that mark by one stroke, totaling a 347 at the
PSC Skyway Invitational on Monday at Deer Creek Golf Course in
University Park.
The Pioneers’ top-three performers were separated by two shots as Tim
Valente (Hammond, Ind.) led the freshmen trio with an 85. Pat Meinke
(Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.) notched an 86 and Mike Jamieson
(Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.) contributed an 87.
Freshman Marcel Franklin (Park Forest) wasn’t far behind after producing
an 89.
Prairie State was fourth among five teams in the standings.

PIONEERS PLAY IN IVCC’S 36-HOLE TOURNEY
In its first 36-hole tournament of the season, the Prairie State College
men’s golf team produced a score of 707 at the Illinois Valley Community
College Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Senica.
The Pioneers shot a season-best 348 on the first day of competition
before following with a 359 Sunday.
Freshman Joe Barker (Marian Catholic H.S.) led PSC with a 165. His
round of 79 Friday is equaled his top outing of the year.
Freshmen Mike Jamieson (Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.) and Marcel Franklin
(Park Forest) were deadlocked with scores of 180, while sophomore Lemar
Brown (Chicago) contributed a 182.

PSC LED BY BROWN AND VALENTE
With rounds of 89, sophomore Lemar Brown (Chicago) and freshman Tim
Valente (Hammond, Ind.) of the Prairie State College men’s golf team
shared the top spot among the five Pioneers at the Oakton Community
College Skyway Invitational on Wednesday in Glenview.
Freshman Mike Jamieson (Bradley-Boubonnais H.S.) nearly made it a
three-way tie on the leader board as he finished with a 90. Freshman
Marcel Franklin (Park Forest) turned in a 93, resulting in a team score
of 361 for PSC.
Also competing for Prairie State was freshman Pat Meinke
(Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.), who had a 94.

PRAIRIE STATE ONCE AGAIN FIFTH IN CONFERENCE MEET
For the third time in as many meets, the Prairie State College men’s
golf team finished fifth among six schools in an Illinois Skyway
Collegiate Conference competition after shooting a 351 at the Elgin
Community College Skyway Invitational on Monday in Elgin.
Freshman Pat Meinke (Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.) shot a team-best 82, which
placed him five strokes ahead of sophomore Lemar Brown (Chicago) and
freshman Marcel Franklin (Park Forest), who both had rounds of 87.
Freshman Mike Jamieson (Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.) concluded the
Pioneers’ scoring with a 95.
College of Lake County was first with a team score of 303.

BROWN TOPS AMONG PIONEERS AT SAUK VALLEY
Sophomore Lemar Brown (Chicago) shot a season-best 86 to lead the
Prairie State College men’s golf team’s four-man contingent at the Sauk
Valley Community College Invitational on Friday in Sterling.
PSC also had three freshmen competing, with Pat Meinke
(Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.) posting a 90, Tim Valente (Hammond, Ind.) a 95
and Marcel Franklin (Flossmoor) a 99.
The Pioneers finished with a team score of 370.

PRAIRIE STATE SHOWS IMPROVEMENT IN LEAGUE MEET
Shaving six strokes off of its score from the Illinois Skyway Collegiate
Conference opener Sept. 5, the Prairie State College golf team shot a
350 at Wednesday’s league meet, which was hosted by Moraine Valley
Community College in Worth, to finish fifth among six schools.
Freshman Mike Jamieson (Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.) led the Pioneers with
a round of 84. Freshmen Kyle Panici (Marian Catholic H.S.) and Marcel
Franklin (Flossmoor) were two shots behind as they each had an 86.
Freshman Pat Meinke (Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.) added a 94 in his
collegiate debut.
Waubonsee Community College was first in the standings with a team score
of 314.

THREE PSC GOLFERS PARTICIPATE AT DUPAGE CLASSIC
Three freshmen represented the Prairie State College men’s golf team at
the College of DuPage Classic on Thursday in Romeoville.
Marcel Franklin (Flossmoor) and Mike Jamieson (Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.)
both shot an 88, and Tim Valente (Hammond, Ind.) finished with a 102.
Robert Morris won the team title with a score of 312. With just three
participants, PSC did not earn a spot in the team standings.

PIONEERS TAKE FIFTH IN CONFERENCE MEET
The Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference season commenced Wednesday
with the Prairie State College men’s golf team finishing fifth in a pool
of six schools with a score of 356 at the College of Lake County
Invitational in Zion.
Freshmen Mike Jamieson (Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.) and Marcel Franklin
(Flossmoor) ranked No. 1 and No. 2 among the Pioneers after the former
shot an 86 while the latter totaled an 87.
Freshman Joe Barker (Marian Catholic H.S.) contributed a 90, freshman
Tim Valente (Hammond, Ind.) notched a 93 and sophomore Lemar Brown
compiled a 94.
Lake County took first in the team standings with a score of 310. Also
competing were Elgin Community College (320), Waubonsee Community
College (321), Moraine Valley Community College (334) and Oakton
Community College (402).

PRAIRIE STATE COMPETES AT DUANE CHANAY INVITE
After its first two meets of the season were cancelled due to weather,
the Prairie State College men’s golf team finally opened the 2007
campaign Friday at the Ninth Annual Duane Chanay Invitational in Port
Byron.
Leading the Pioneers' six-man contingent was freshman Joe Barker (Marian
Catholic H.S.), who shot a 79. Following Barker with rounds of 90 were
sophomore Lemar Brown (Chicago) and freshman Tim Valente (Hammond,
Ind.).
Freshmen Kyle Panici (Marian Catholic H.S.), Mike Jamieson
(Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.) and Marcel Franklin (Flossmoor) netted scores
of 92, 94 and 96, respectively.
PSC finished 15th among 15 teams with a score of 366. St. Ambrose
University, an NAIA school, captured the title with a 284.

PSC SEASON OPENER POSTPONED ONCE AGAIN
Last week’s rain storms have once again postponed the Prairie State
College men’s golf team’s season opener.
After last Friday’s (Aug. 24) Highland Community College Invitational
was washed out, the Pioneers received word that Wednesday’s (Aug. 29)
Elgin Community College Skyway Invitational was cancelled due to the
poor playing conditions at the course.
PSC hopes to begin the 2007 campaign Friday (Aug. 31) at the Ninth
Annual Duane Chanay Invitational in Port Byron.

PIONEERS' SEASON OPENER PUT ON HOLD
Severe weather forced the cancellation of the Prairie State College
men's golf team's season opener Friday at the Highland Community College
Invitational in Freeport.
The Pioneers will make their 2007 debut Wednesday at the Elgin Community
College Skyway Invitational.
