PIONEERS CONCLUDE SEASON AT REGION IV INVITATIONAL
A trip to the NJCAA Invitational just eluded Donna Warner of the Prairie State College women's cross country team. Warner, who needed to finish among the top 10 at the Region IV Invitational in order to qualify to the nationals, placed 12th with a career-best time of 22:10 in the 5-kilometer event. In the men's competition, Alex Moore covered the 8-kilometer course in 30:01, while Juan Brooks posted a time of 31:51, which was his personal best. The region meet marked the end of the 2005 season.

PSC COMPETES IN CONFERENCE MEET
Although Prairie State College is in the midst of its inaugural cross country season, Alex Moore had emerged as a strong candidate to make the All-Skyway Conference team. However, Moore's quest for all-conference status was denied when he suffered a leg cramp during the league meet, which was hosted by Waubonsee College, resulting in a 36:56 showing in the 8-kilometer event. Juan Brooks was the Pioneers' top finisher as he produced a career-best time of 34:37. Ryan Jones, meanwhile, clocked in at 37:57.

WARNER RETURNS FOR PSC WOMEN'S TEAM; MEN LED BY MOORE
After mising the last three meets due to injury, Donna Warner of the Prairie State College women's cross country team resumed her season at the Sauk Valley Community College Invitational, where she had a time of 25:06 for the 5-kilometer event. On the men's side of the ledger, Alex Moore completed the 8-kilometer course in 30:16 to place 11th among 37 individuals. Juan Brooks and Terry Dodd posted times of 34:44 and 43:26, respectively.

TWO PSC RUNNERS REGISTER SEASON-BEST TIMES
Juan Brooks and Ryan Jones of the Prairie State College men's cross country team each turned in their quickest 8-kilometer times of the year as the former finished the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational in 34:39 while the latter completed the course in 36:44. Alex Moore led the Pioneers' contingent with a time of 30:51 to rank 82nd out of 141 competitors.

PIONEERS BACK IN ACTION AFTER TWO-WEEK LAYOFF
After going on a two-week hiatus, the Prairie State College men's cross country team resumed its season at the Beloit College Old English Classic at Leeson Park. Alex Moore paced the Pioneers with a time of 30:45 in the 8-kilometer competition to finish 89th out of 146 runners. Juan Brooks, who was making his collegiate debut, also participated for PSC as he clocked in at 37:17.

PSC TRAVELS TO WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE
Over 300 cross country runners competed at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational, including Alex Moore (Rich South H.S.) and Ryan Jones (Rich South H.S.) of the Prairie State College men's team. Moore completed 8-kilometer course in 30:54, while Jones authored a time of 41:58. “This was a tough race because of the hills. We're not used to that type of a course, ” said PSC head coach Oscar Espinosa. Next up for the Pioneers is the Beloit College (Wis.) Invitational on Oct. 1.

PIONEERS PUT UP STRONG SHOWING AT AURORA
With a time of 28:12 at the Aurora University Invitational, freshman Donna Warner of the Prairie State College women's cross country team took first among the 11 junior college participants, finishing 18 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor in the 6-kilometer race. Facing predominantly runners from four-year schools, Warner placed 70th in a pool of 150. Sophomore Alex Moore of the Pioneers' men's team also had an impressive outing, ranking third in a field of 21 in the junior college standings after registering a time of 29:43 in the 8-kilometer venue. Overall, he was 43rd out of 126 runners. Both Warner and Moore improved significantly on their season averages, reducing their times by 1:20 and 30 seconds, respectively.

PIONEERS PARTICIPATE AT WAUBONSEE MEET
For the second time in as many weeks, sophomore Alex Moore of the Prairie State College men's cross country team turned in the Pioneers' quickest time as he clocked in at 29:45 at the 5-mile Waubonsee College Invitational. With his performance, Moore placed 18th among 67 competitors. Also participating for the men's team was freshman Ryan Jones. Meanwhile, freshman Faith Lyare tallied a time of 33:41 in the women's 3-mile race.

PIONEERS INAUGURAL MEET AT HARPER
Five runners (three men & two women) went to the Harper Invitational to
represent Prairie State College in its first cross country competition.
Freshman Donna Warner placed 4th with a time of 15:31. Alex Moore had
the lowest time for the men with 18:25 for three miles course which
placed him 17th in the men's devision. For the first meet Coach Espinosa
felt that the teams show much promise and is excited about the upcoming
meets.
Next up for the runners is Saturday, Sept. 3 at Waubonsee.
